Smogon is alot to take in. I usually spend a couple of hours developing a team with it as a guideline, and thats just speaking for myself, not other people.

well smogon set out standard rules; you know like pokemon which are banned from certain tiers.
and due to the popularity of the movesets presented by smogon theyre able to create a big enough effect.

the only ones this doesnt effect is people who dont use smogon;

for example, before i used smogon i didnt care about the "standard rules", so i battled with what i like with my friends. As soon as i hit a site with smogon's rules, i checked em out and obided by them, it does in a way make the game a little more enjoyable.
