Setup for posting your team

In the "Team building and rating"-forum under the "Comptetitive Battling"-forum, which is where you are now, you are allowed to post your own competitive battling team. This should be done in a manner that follows this setup:

[Species Name] @ [Item, which the pokémon is holding]
Nickname: [Nickname of Pokémon] <-- Not Required
Ability: [Ability of Pokémon] <-- Not Required if Single Ability
Nature: [Nature of Pokémon (Nature effects)]
EVs: [EVs of Pokémon]
- [Move]
- [Move]
- [Move]
- [Move]

[Description, telling about the function of given Pokémon, and it's place on the team]

Note, that not everything in this setup is required to be listed.
- For instance the nickname has no meaning what so ever in competitive battling, so unless you believe it is important, it should not be listed.
- Also, the ability of the Pokémon doesn't need to be listed if the Pokémon is only capable of having one single Ability. If it has two different abilities however, you should list which one you will have it have.

Example?
This example could stand out as a role model, however the whole idea of this pokémon might not be so bright. I bet you can do better ;]
This is, although the way you should set it up:

"Pidgeot @ Choice Scarf
Nickname: ConfuseMe
Ability: Tangled Feet
Nature: Timid (+ Spd - Sp.Atk)
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP

- Aerial Ace
- Return
- Steel Wing
- U-Turn

Scarf-Pidgeot. U-Turn for tactical switches. Aerial Ace and Return for STAB(Same Type Attack Bonus), and Steel Wing for coverage, just in case."

~

That was the almost optimal way to set up your pokémon in your comptetitive team, while also being the way it is the easiest for raters to read.

The italic font was added in this case, to give it an even further interesting character. This is not required in any way, but remember, when it comes to Bold, Italic and Underline, you can design your setup in whichever way you wish. Marking the pokémons name and item in Bold, will also do good.

~

As it is, the IVs of Pokémon in competitive battling shouldn't be shown, since when you put up a pokémon in a competitive battling team, you expect all IVs to be 31, so that it would be the best possible. The only reason one should post the IVs, is if for example one wanted their pokémon to be as slow as possible for their Trick Room Team, or something like that. You can also write something like this, if you are looking to trade your way to the team you have put up:
"IVs: 31 Atk, 31 Spd, rdm"
Here "rdm" would mean "Rest Doesn't Matter".

However, remember, the Team building and rating-forum is not a place to discuss trades. For Quick Trades, go to The Quick Trade Thread.

Making your thread more interesting

There are several different things you can yet do, to make your Thread more interesting. These are things like Horizontal Lines, which you can put in between each pokémon, as well as sprite images of the Pokémon in your team.
At the top of your Thread you can also list all of your pokémon next to eachother, to make people understand, before scrolling further down, what types you deal with, and allround type-wise coverage.

And also, just below this, you should write a small text to explain what your team in it self is all about. This is very important, to give raters an idea of wether if it is a team, that is to just sweep it's way forward, or if it is more of a stall-like team, with weather-moves and Protect-users.

Horizontal Lines
Let's start off with the horizontal lines. They look like this:

The way you make them, is simple enough.
You just have to write these codes:
Code: Select all
[hr][/hr]

You should use these horizontal lines to sign "That was the end of the info on this pokémon, and the start of the info of a new one"

~

Sprite Images
And now, for adding sprite images.

You can produce sprite images, like this;
Image
by typing a simple code that only requires that you know how to spell the name of the Pokémon:
Code: Select all
[pkmn]pidgeot[/pkmn]

You should place the Sprite Image just above the information about the Pokémon.

~

Final Example

Now for the final example, taking you have followed every step before this.

Remember, that you might want to put the sprites of all the Teams Pokémon in the beginning of your thread, like shown in the example, as well. (In this team, there are only Pidgeots due to the fact, it is not an actual team)

Team Consistensy:

This team is a Pidgeot Rampage, only consisting of Pidgeots. They all have different jobs to do, and different roles to fulfill.

Pidgeot @ Choice Scarf
Nickname: ConfuseMe
Ability: Tangled Feet
Nature: Timid (+ Spd - Sp.Atk)
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP

- Aerial Ace
- Return
- Steel Wing
- U-Turn

Scarf-Pidgeot. U-Turn for tactical switches. Aerial Ace and Return for STAB(Same Type Attack Bonus), and Steel Wing for coverage, just in case.

[NEXT POKÉMON]

~

And this way, you keep going until the end, where you might want to round it off, with what kind of comments you would like to recieve. Just comments overall, or comments specifying on the moves, or maybe the pokémon in themselves? This is up to you.

And remember to assign who will be the lead of the team that you post!
^ Eventually give them titles for them selves, so people know before reading the description what they are to be used for. The description is just a more detailed version of this.

And now...
Have fun making and rating teams! =D
